Biacid is a feed additive consisting of an optimal blend of organic acids and essential oil components designed to enhance production performance of broiler chickens by encouraging higher feed intakes and a more efficient functioning of the intestinal tract.
Both elements in Biacid show an inhibitory effect on bacterial growth, organic acids by lowering the pH, while essential oils increase the permeability of the bacterial wall. The organic acids are mainly active in the diet and in the proximal part of the gastrointestinal tract and antimicrobial properties of the essential oils are mainly active in the small intestine. Complementary, essentials oils are known to increase voluntary feed intake and stimulate nutrient digestion by increasing the absorption of nutrients.
